Université Laval is advertising a fully funded PhD opportunity in biotechnology and food sustainability within the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences in Quebec City, Canada.

The project is titled Production of Bioactive Compounds Using Agricultural and Food Waste as Renewable Feedstocks. The research focuses on sustainable bioprocesses, valorization of agricultural and food waste, production of value-added bioactive compounds, microbial metabolic pathways, and analysis of the biological properties of the produced compounds.

This opportunity is especially relevant for candidates with backgrounds in food science, biotechnology, chemical engineering, or related fields. The post asks for a Master’s degree, interest in applied research and technological development, knowledge of bioprocess development, strong communication and teamwork skills, and English proficiency. Basic French is an advantage.

The position is full-time and funded for 3 years. It is open to international students and is expected to start in Fall 2026.
