About this position

Aalborg University’s Faculty of Medicine, Department of Health Science and Technology, is offering a postdoctoral position in biomechanics and pain in osteoarthritis, starting from December 1, 2025, or as soon as possible thereafter. The appointment is for 2.5 years and is part of a larger Scandinavian network focused on pain and biomechanics. The department is renowned for its research, teaching, and innovation in engineering, biomedicine, sports science, public health, neuroscience, psychology, and physiotherapy, aiming to develop sustainable technological solutions that improve quality of life.

The successful candidate will develop and validate new experimental pain models that mimic knee osteoarthritis and work with clinical cohorts of patients. Applicants must have a Cand.scient. in medicine with industrial specialization or a similar degree, and a Ph.D. or equivalent. Experience in both pain and biomechanics, including recruitment for human experimental pain studies and inducing experimental knee pain, is essential.

The candidate should have a strong publication record as first author, experience applying for external funding, and the ability to teach and conduct exams. Additional expectations include presenting research at conferences, practicing open science, and contributing to teamwork within research groups. The department supports approximately 230 employees, 70 Ph.D. students, and 1,900 students in bachelor’s and master’s programs, with state-of-the-art facilities.

Salary and employment terms follow the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations’ collective agreement. The application process requires submission of a motivated text, CV, diplomas, references, research plans, publication list, teaching experience, and knowledge dissemination activities via Aalborg University’s recruitment system. Diversity is a core value at Aalborg University, and all qualified candidates are encouraged to apply.
