MD-PhD / PhD Program IOB in Switzerland

The Institute of Molecular and Clinical Ophthalmology Basel (IOB) is inviting applications for its PhD and MD-PhD Program in Translational Visual Neurosciences. This program offers a unique opportunity to conduct cutting-edge research on the function and dysfunction of the eye and visual brain, and to pioneer new therapies for eye diseases. Students will join an inspiring, interdisciplinary environment in Basel, Switzerland, and participate in world-leading vision research. The curriculum includes lectures on vision and eye diseases, practical courses in advanced physiological, molecular, and translational technologies, biweekly seminars, and training in transferable skills.

Candidates are enrolled at the University of Basel and have access to a wide range of courses and training programs. Research groups include theoretical and computational neuroscience, quantitative visual physiology, central visual circuits, ophthalmic translational research, and ophthalmic genetics. The program is highly international, with students from diverse backgrounds. Fellowships are available, typically covering tuition and providing a stipend.
