The IT University of Copenhagen (ITU) is inviting applications for a postdoctoral position in Algebraic Complexity Theory and Theoretical Computer Science, starting in September 2026 or soon thereafter. This opportunity is funded by the Carlsberg Foundation and the VILLUM foundation through the Algebraic Hardness and Applications (AHA) project and the Basic Algorithms Research Copenhagen (BARC) center. The position is for 24 months and is ideal for candidates with a strong background in Computer Science or Mathematics, particularly those with research interests in algorithm design, complexity theory, and related mathematical foundations.

The successful candidate will join a vibrant research environment in the TCS section at ITU, which has a strong presence at top-tier conferences such as STOC, FOCS, and SODA. The project benefits from close collaborations with the BARC center at Copenhagen University and connections to other leading institutions such as the University of Southern Denmark, Aarhus University, and Lund University. The research group regularly hosts seminars, talks, and visitors, fostering a dynamic and collaborative atmosphere aimed at achieving breakthroughs in algorithms and complexity theory.

Applicants must have or be near completion of a PhD in Computer Science or Mathematics, with a solid publication record in top conferences or journals. The position is research-focused, with teaching of advanced courses encouraged.
