About this position
Postdoctoral Position in Groundwater Modelling – Morocco & Denmark Collaboration
This postdoctoral opportunity is part of the international research project “Plasticulture Farming in Semi-Arid Regions under Climate Change: Sustainable Water Resource Management and Inclusive Socio-Economic Development.” The position is based at the Faculty of Sciences, Université Ibn Zohr in Morocco, with collaboration and exchanges with Danish partner institutions.
The successful candidate will work on groundwater sustainability in the Chtouka Plain (Souss-Massa, Morocco), a highly irrigated horticultural region under increasing pressure from climate change and water scarcity. Research topics include groundwater flow and recharge modelling, climate change impacts on water resources, groundwater salinization, nitrate contamination, integration of hydrogeological, geophysical, isotope, and agricultural datasets, assessment of irrigation and desalinated water use scenarios, and development of decision-support tools for sustainable water management.
The role offers participation in a multidisciplinary Danish–Moroccan consortium, collaboration with experts in hydrogeology, hydrology, geophysics, and water management, and opportunities for international networking and scientific publications. The post is highly relevant for candidates interested in groundwater modelling, environmental science, climate adaptation, and sustainable agriculture.
Eligibility highlights: PhD in Hydrogeology, Hydrology, Water Resources Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or a related field; experience with groundwater modelling tools such as MODFLOW; strong quantitative and data analysis skills; excellent scientific writing and communication; and the ability to work in an interdisciplinary, international setting.
Funding: brut salary of 8000.00 with an income tax rate of 37%.
Deadline: 20/06/2026.
