About this position
Postdoctoral position in groundwater modelling for a Denmark–Morocco collaboration on sustainable water management under climate change.
The project, Plasticulture Farming in Semi-Arid Regions under Climate Change: Sustainable Water Resource Management and Inclusive Socio-Economic Development, focuses on the Chtouka Plain in Souss-Massa, Morocco, a highly irrigated horticultural region facing water scarcity, groundwater stress, salinization, and nitrate contamination.
The successful candidate will work on groundwater flow and recharge modelling, climate change impacts on water resources, groundwater salinization, nitrate contamination, and the integration of hydrogeological, geophysical, isotope, and agricultural datasets. The role also includes assessing irrigation and desalinated water use scenarios and developing decision-support tools for sustainable water management.
This is a multidisciplinary international research opportunity with collaboration across Danish and Moroccan partner institutions, offering scientific networking and publication opportunities. The post is based at the Faculty of Sciences, Ibn Zohr University, Morocco.
Eligibility: applicants should hold a PhD in Hydrogeology, Hydrology, Water Resources Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or a related field. Experience with groundwater modelling tools such as MODFLOW, strong quantitative and data analysis skills, excellent scientific writing and communication, and the ability to work in an interdisciplinary international environment are expected.
Funding: brut salary of 8000.00 with an income tax rate of 37%.
Deadline: 20 June 2026.
