About this position

Postdoctoral Researcher opportunity in the Laboratory of Prokaryotic Gene Regulation at the International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology in Warsaw (IIMCB), Poland.

The project focuses on bacterial RNA regulation, especially how bacteria decide the fate of their RNAs. Research themes include sRNAs, Hfq, RNases, mRNA regulation, RNA preservation vs degradation, translation–decay interplay, and single-molecule visualization of molecular machines in action.

This is a full-time postdoctoral position with a strong experimental and mechanistic focus. The post emphasizes interdisciplinary work in molecular biology, biochemistry, and biophysics, with access to cutting-edge infrastructure, including custom-built TIRF microscopy and biochemistry facilities. The role offers international collaborations, training, conference opportunities, and mentorship.

Funding and benefits: approximately 9700 PLN gross/month plus benefits, including a 13th salary, private medical care, and multisport benefit. The position is 100% research-focused with no teaching duties. The initial appointment is for 6 months with a possibility of extension for the duration of the project.

Eligibility highlights: PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry, or biophysics (or near completion); experience in RNA or protein biochemistry is preferred; single-molecule techniques are a plus; strong publication record and excellent English communication skills are expected.

Deadline: 2026-05-31. Start date: July 2026 (flexible).
