About this position

The GreenFieldData project, funded by the European Union HORIZON Marie Sklodowska-Curie Action (MSCA) Joint Doctoral Network, is offering 14 fully funded PhD positions in the interdisciplinary field of computer science and digital agriculture. Hosted by Poznan University of Technology and a consortium of leading European universities, this program focuses on innovative research at the intersection of data management, artificial intelligence, robotics, and sustainable agriculture.

PhD candidates will engage in cutting-edge research topics such as IoRT (Internet of Robotic Things) network optimization, AI-driven precision farming, data lakes and large language models for sustainability assessment, digital twins for agricultural monitoring, deep learning for crop disease detection, and advanced sensor technologies for environmental monitoring. The program offers a unique double PhD degree, jointly awarded by two partner universities from the network, providing a truly international and interdisciplinary doctoral experience.

Successful applicants will receive a full-time employment contract for three years, including a competitive living allowance, mobility allowance to support relocation and travel, and a family allowance for those with dependents. The program ensures pension rights, social security, and health insurance. The research will be conducted in collaboration with a network of main and associated partners across Europe, offering extensive opportunities for mobility, networking, and professional development.

Applicants must hold a Master's degree (or equivalent) in computer science, informatics, or a closely related discipline. Essential skills include data management, database systems, data analytics, and programming (SQL, Python, Java). Additional expertise in machine learning, image recognition, sensor and robotic technologies is highly valued. Proficiency in English is mandatory. Candidates must not already possess a doctoral degree and must comply with the MSCA mobility rule, which restricts prior residence in the host country.

The application process is competitive and based on merit, with a strong commitment to diversity and equal opportunity. The selection involves document screening, interviews, and task assessments. Applications are open from January 5, 2026, with a deadline of April 15, 2026. For detailed eligibility criteria, research topics, and application instructions, visit the project portal. Prospective candidates are encouraged to contact supervisors for further information and guidance.
