About this position

The University of Wrocław is seeking applications for a post-doctoral assistant professor position in the Department of Management Psychology at the Institute of Psychology, Faculty of Historical and Pedagogical Sciences. This full-time, 24-month research position is funded by the NCN OPUS 26 grant (no. 2023/51/B/HS6/02522) and focuses on a novel investigation into the role of reputation management in human decision-making. The project challenges traditional interpretations of decision errors, proposing that many deviations from normative choices are deliberate, socially motivated strategies rather than cognitive limitations.

The research will develop and validate a new measurement tool based on the Process Dissociation technique, enabling the separation of normative decision-making ability and sensitivity to reputational concerns. The postdoctoral researcher will be involved in all phases of the project, including scale development and piloting, correlational validation with established individual-difference measures, and experimental validation using role-playing, trust games, and group decision-making paradigms. Responsibilities include designing and programming studies, data collection and analysis, and co-authoring publications. The position is research-only, with no teaching duties, and offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of cognitive psychology, behavioural economics, and social psychology.

Applicants must hold a PhD in psychology, cognitive science, behavioral economics, or a closely related field, demonstrate fluency in English, and possess strong quantitative data analysis skills (e.g., R, Python, SPSS). A track record of peer-reviewed publications is required, with additional merit for publications recognized by the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education. Candidates should be highly motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a research team. All eligibility requirements of the Higher Education and Science Act and the University of Wrocław Statute must be met.

To apply, candidates should submit a complete application package electronically to [email protected] by 30 April 2026. Required documents include a personal questionnaire, CV, proof of PhD, workplace statement, scientific discipline declaration, Article 113 declaration, self-presentation, publication list, and electronic versions of two key publications. The University of Wrocław reserves the right to contact only selected candidates and may require interviews via electronic communication. For further details, see the official position description and information clause for applicants.
