About this position
Morphocell Technologies is seeking an Associate Director of Product Engineering to join their team in the Greater Montreal Area. This on-site position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of cutting-edge cell therapies and novel combination products in a collaborative and innovative environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and managing the design, development, and manufacturing of Morphocell’s medical devices and combination products, supporting both new and existing product lines.
Key responsibilities include managing product development, overseeing key activities such as proof-of-concept and verification/validation testing, supporting cross-functional teams, and guiding encapsulation process development. The role also involves identifying optimization opportunities, establishing user requirements, and implementing solutions to address technical challenges in manufacturing. The Associate Director will technically lead research efforts, maintain a strong knowledge base in industry and preclinical/clinical research, and ensure compliance with Morphocell’s Quality Management System, including design control processes and FMEA development.
The position requires providing mentorship and leadership to the Product Engineering team, fostering accountability and effective communication, and developing team members’ technical and leadership abilities. Additional duties include supporting ongoing manufacturing efforts, leading equipment troubleshooting, conceptualizing new methodologies and products, collaborating with legal and engineering teams to protect intellectual property, and authoring technical documentation.
Applicants must have a B.S., M.S., or PhD in biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, or a related field, with at least seven years of experience in medical device development. Experience in managing device development and manufacturing, leading R&D teams, implementing design controls, and a strong foundation in cell biology and aseptic techniques are required. Familiarity with FDA QSR and ISO 13485 standards, equipment validation, and strong communication skills are essential. The role requires physical ability to work in office and laboratory settings and occasional weekend availability.
