A fully-funded PhD Studentship in the School of Electronics and Computer Science at the University of Southampton (linked to the £31M Responsible Ai UK programme)Project Title: Trustworthy Vision-based Localization on Resource-Constrained Robots and Mobile DevicesSupervisors: Sarvapali (Gopal) Ramchurn and myself.Goal: To research trustworthy vision-based localization algorithms and systems that would allow resource-constrained robots and mobile devices to understand their position in an environment over long periods accurately. The designed algorithms will be aware of their uncertainty and understand what they do not know. This means they will not make ill-founded decisions. With such understanding, robots can become more autonomous in building and maintaining their map of the environment so that they can collaborate and become more useful for humans.
