About this position
The Department of Decision and Control Systems at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden, invites applications for a doctoral student position within the MSCA SecReSy4You network. This position focuses on security optimization in control systems, with an emphasis on the resilience of critical infrastructure. The SecReSy4You Doctoral Network, funded by the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA), offers a unique opportunity to join a European research consortium dedicated to advancing the security and performance of networked control systems and cyber-physical systems (CPS).
The research will involve control-oriented system and attacker modeling, multi-layer detection of cyberattacks, and game-theoretic approaches to performance-security trade-offs. The successful candidate will work closely with leading researchers and industry partners, including ABB, TU/e, and Saarland University, and benefit from a comprehensive training program designed to prepare doctoral students for careers in this rapidly evolving field.
Applicants must meet mobility rules (not having resided or conducted their main activity in Sweden for more than 12 months in the past 3 years) and hold a Master of Science or equivalent degree in Engineering Physics, Mathematics, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. A strong background in control engineering and systems theory, high proficiency in programming (C, C++, Python, Julia, or MATLAB), and excellent English skills (written and spoken, equivalent to English B/6) are required. Knowledge in computer security is considered an advantage.
The position offers full-time employment for up to four years, with a starting monthly salary of 33700 SEK (approx 2991 EUR), in accordance with KTH's doctoral student salary agreement. Additional allowances are provided through the Marie Curie program, including mobility and possible family allowances. Doctoral students at KTH enjoy excellent working conditions, employee benefits, and access to a creative and dynamic research environment.
To apply, candidates must submit a complete application through KTH's recruitment system, including certified copies of diplomas and grades, proof of language requirements, CV, application letter, representative publications or technical reports, and contact information for two references. Applications must be received by midnight (CET/CEST) on April 24, 2026.
