Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden, invites applications for a fully funded doctoral student position in Quantum Electronics and Signal Processing, focusing on the development of future superconductor-based quantum computing control. This industrial PhD opportunity is hosted in collaboration with Scalinq, WACQT, and the Department of Electrical Engineering (E2), and centers on multiplexing qubit control in both time and frequency domains to advance quantum computing scalability and performance.

The research project involves designing and fabricating multiplexing solutions for qubit control, measuring and evaluating these schemes under cryogenic conditions, and investigating signal integrity and pulse distortion. The successful candidate will contribute to publications, white papers, and technical presentations, and will play a key role in overcoming data transport bottlenecks in quantum computers by developing energy- and resource-efficient multiplexing strategies.

Eligibility: Applicants must hold a Master’s degree (120 or 60 credits) in physics, electrical engineering, or a closely related field. For those educated outside Sweden, a four-year Bachelor’s degree is accepted. Candidates should demonstrate strong presentation and communication skills, fluency in professional English, and an interest in quantum technologies. The position requires the ability to travel internationally and relocate to Sweden. Physical presence is mandatory throughout the study period, and a valid residence permit must be presented by the start date.

Funding: The position is fully funded from the start, with a starting salary of 34,550 SEK per month (from May 25, 2025). The appointment is for four years, with the possibility to teach up to 20%, extending the position to five years. All employee benefits at Chalmers are included.
