About this position

We are hiring!

The Engineering Risk Analysis Group ( www.cee.ed.tum.de/era ) at Technische Universität München is looking for a PhD student to work on
Probabilistic spatial data modeling for community risk management

We aim to develop a probabilistic digital twin framework for risk and resilience management of urban areas for natural or man-made fire hazards. A particular focus of the research will be on the representation of knowledge uncertainty in geographical information systems and their impact on optimal decision-making for risk management. The developed framework shall consistently account for uncertainties when combining existing spatial data repositories with information from satellites, urban monitoring systems and other sources using a Bayesian framework. The PhD student will have secondments at Delft University of Technology with Prof. Maria Nogal
and at Matrisk in Switzerland with Dr. Matthias Schubert
.

The PhD position is part of the FOURIER Doctoral Network and offers an exciting opportunity to work with leading experts and a larger group of 15 PhD students across Europe to work on Artificial Intelligence solutions for monitoring and maintaining large-scale complex infrastructures via the IntelliWind MSCA Doctoral Network funded by the European Commission’s Horizon 2023 Marie Sklodowska-Curie programme.
