The Arami Lab at the University of Waterloo is recruiting fully funded PhD students and postdoctoral fellows for research in artificial intelligence, robotics, wearable robotics, Parkinson's disease, manufacturing, material characterization, and sensor fusion. These positions are supported by the prestigious Canada Impact+ Research Training Awards (CIRTA), which provide significant scholarships for both PhD and postdoctoral candidates. The CIRTA program is open to outstanding international and Canadian researchers currently residing outside Canada, aiming to advance research in priority fields such as advanced digital technologies (AI, quantum, cybersecurity), health and biotechnology, clean technology, environment and climate resilience, food and water security, democratic and community resilience, manufacturing and advanced materials, and defence technologies.

PhD position 1 focuses on the intersection of Parkinson's disease, AI, and wearable robotics, while PhD position 2 is related to manufacturing, material characterization, and AI. The postdoctoral research topic centers on AI, robotics, and sensor fusion. Applicants must have a strong background in relevant fields and demonstrate research potential and achievements. The CIRTA doctoral award offers $40,000 per year for up to three years, and the postdoctoral award provides $70,000 per year for up to two years, plus benefits. Eligibility requires candidates to be currently outside Canada and not affiliated with a Canadian institution. For PhD applicants, a relevant master's degree and research experience are preferred.
