A fully-funded PhD opportunity is available at the University of Cambridge and University of East Anglia, starting October 2026, focused on the interdisciplinary study of how pesticide exposure affects the brain, cognition, and community wellbeing. The project, 'Pesticide Harm: Minds, Policies and Practice,' aims to bridge gaps between cognitive neuroscience, environmental health, participatory fieldwork in Chile, and policy research to understand and mitigate the invisible effects of chronic pesticide exposure, especially in rural agricultural communities. Supervision is provided by Tristan Bekinschtein (Cambridge), Rachel Carmenta (UEA), Boris Lucero (Universidad Catolica del Maule, Chile), and Maria Teresa Muñoz-Quezada (Universidad de Chile).

The position is funded by the ESRC Cambridge Doctoral Training Partnership (CAM-DTP), offering full tuition coverage, a UKRI stipend, interdisciplinary training, an Innovation Fellowship placement, and field experience. Applicants should have a background in psychology, neuroscience, anthropology, or global/public health, with an interest in brain–environment interactions and environmental justice.
