The Department of Gender Studies at Lund University, situated within the Faculty of Social Sciences, is seeking a postdoctoral researcher for the project 'Gender Struggles in the New Conjuncture,' funded by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation. This interdisciplinary research investigates anti-gender networks, feminist, and LGBTQI+ movements across five European regions, focusing on how struggles over gender and sexuality shape contemporary political and social landscapes. The project aims to capture the meanings of gender and sexuality in these actors’ tactics, political agendas, and social visions, and to assess their impact on human rights, democracy, and civil society. Led by Professor Mia Liinason, the research team is committed to advancing critical understandings of gender and sexuality from intersectional, postcolonial, and interdisciplinary perspectives.

The postdoctoral researcher will conduct ethnographic fieldwork and digital network analysis, particularly in Southern Europe, and will be expected to develop independent research questions within the project framework. Responsibilities include collecting and analyzing data both online and offline, participating in regular project meetings, collaborating with the research group, authoring scientific articles, and teaching up to 20% of the time.

Applicants must have a PhD in Gender Studies or a related social science, completed before the hiring decision, and documented experience in digital ethnography or network analysis. Advanced proficiency in Italian, Spanish, or Portuguese and strong knowledge of sociopolitical contexts in Southern Europe are essential. Additional merits include recent PhD completion, experience in digital cultures research, proficiency in AI methods, teaching experience, and scientific collaboration.

The position is full-time for two years, with generous benefits typical of Swedish government agencies. The successful candidate is expected to be present on campus in Lund and actively contribute to the research environment.
