For those passionate about making a difference in geospatial health research, the GeoHealth Lab at the University of Connecticut's Department of Geography is seeking a Ph.D. student to begin in Fall 2025! This interdisciplinary opportunity focuses on assessing environmental exposures—such as air pollution, greenspace access, and noise pollution—using GIS and wearable technologies to explore how these factors impact health, especially within low-income and racial minority communities.
What You’ll Work On: ?? Researching connections between travel behaviors, daily activities, and exposure to health hazards or benefits
?? Utilizing cutting-edge geospatial tech and human mobility data (GPS, travel diaries, mobile data)
?? Engaging with communities to mitigate environmental health disparities
Position Highlights: ?? Tuition waiver and a competitive stipend ($30,091 for AY25-26) for up to four years
?? Opportunity for both RA and TA roles
Ideal Candidate Qualifications: ?? Background in Geography or related fields
