PhD position alert!

We are hiring a fully-funded PhD student to work with us in Faculty of Aerospace Engineering, TU Delft.
Unidirectional composites with discontinuous fibre architectures may offer processing advantages to manufacture thin shell pressure vessels. The aim of this project is to investigate the mechanical response of novel thin ply thermoplastic unidirectional tapes with fibre discontinuities at the micro and meso-scale and to derive their constitutive laws towards the macroscopic scale.
Together with Clemens Dransfeld
we are currently searching for a PhD student, who is interested in gaining a deeper scientific understanding of challenges but also benefits in mechanical performance and permeability offered by the discontinuous material architecture.
We are looking for someone who has the curiosity and critical reflection to find the interesting scientific questions (and answers) while also understanding the context of their work.
We offer a 4 year position, in the form of an initial 1.5 years with an official Go/NoGo progress assessment followed by a remaining 2.5 year contract with salary and benefits according to the Dutch Collective Labour Agreement for Universities. You will have the opportunity to work in a top-notch lab, while collaborating with an enthusiastic and supportive community of researchers and PhD candidates working on topics related to structural integrity of air- and spacecraft.
