The Department of Poultry Science at Mississippi State University is seeking a highly motivated Master’s Graduate Research Assistant to join their team for Fall 2026. The research focus is on poultry health and disease prevention, specifically developing and evaluating farm-management strategies to prevent the transmission and infection of avian bacterial pathogens. The selected candidate will work in a Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2) laboratory and live-challenge facility, develop research protocols, perform microbiological and molecular biology analyses, conduct data analysis using statistical software such as SAS, prepare scientific manuscripts for publication, and present at scientific conferences. Additional responsibilities include assisting with other research projects and departmental activities.

The position offers a stipend of $15,000 per year, plus a tuition waiver and health insurance. Applicants should have a B.S. in Poultry Science, Animal Science, Food Science, Microbiology, or related fields. Enthusiasm for both farm and laboratory research is required, and prior experience in microbiology and molecular research is preferred but not mandatory.
