About this position

The Department of Mathematics at Louisiana State University is seeking applications for one or more non-tenure-track postdoctoral researcher positions, beginning in the fall semester of 2026. The successful candidate will engage in research in mathematics with the goal of publishing in research journals or advanced-level books, maintain expertise in their field, and teach mathematics at all university levels in accordance with departmental policy.

Additional responsibilities include participating in other educational and professional activities within the department and university. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in mathematical sciences or a closely related field; ABD candidates will be considered if the degree is conferred by August 15, 2026. The department welcomes outstanding candidates in all fields of mathematics, with a preference for those demonstrating research excellence and a commitment to both graduate and undergraduate education.

The position offers a competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, life, dental, and vision insurance, flexible spending accounts, retirement options, paid holidays, wellness benefits, tuition exemption for qualified positions, and more. Positions approved to work outside Louisiana will be employed through LSU’s partner, nextSource Workforce Solutions, and will receive benefits through that provider. Application review will begin on December 1, 2025, and continue until the positions are filled, with the final listing date on March 18, 2026.

Application materials required include a curriculum vitae, research statement, teaching statement, publication list, and three reference letters (to be submitted online by the reference writers). Cover letters are optional. A background check and original transcripts are required prior to hire. For questions regarding the application or salary, contact the Department of Mathematics or LSU Human Resources.
