About this position
Alert PhD Opportunities! ??
We have three fully funded PhD positions (covering fees + living allowance for both UK and overseas students) within our university research groups! I'm personally involved in all these projects, and I'm really excited about the potential impact they can have. Please share to your students and friends !
Here are the projects you could be a part of:
??Electromagnetic Energy Harvester for EV Suspension Systems
This project aims to integrate an energy harvester into the shock absorbers of electric vehicles (EVs) to significantly extend their range. Think about the impact this could have on EV adoption!
This will be led by the amazing Chitta Saha , and I'll be heavily involved in the AI and control aspects.
Start Date: We're looking for someone to start in February 2026 or May 2026.
??Data-Centric Offshore Site Characterisation for Sustainable and Resilient Infrastructure
Imagine developing a data-driven model to (remotely) identify the properties of seabed sediments. This is crucial for supporting the deployment of massive offshore renewable energy infrastructure, like wind turbines, in a sustainable way.
The fantastic Shuyin Feng will be leading this one, and I'll be contributing my expertise in simulations, AI, and modelling.
Start Date: This project also has flexible start dates in February 2026 or May 2026.
?? AI-Driven Maintenance Optimization for Minigrids
This is a project I'm particularly excited to lead. We'll be investigating IoT and predictive maintenance for smart energy systems, with a direct aim to improve the affordability and accessibility of local energy systems. We'll be working with experimental facilities at our new renewable energy lab here at BCU, and also in Bangladesh in partnership with Bangladesh Agricultural University – a truly international and impactful project!
I'll be leading this project, with the always enthousiastic support from Dr. Shishank Shishank .
Start Date: This position is set to start in September 2026.
These are incredible opportunities to contribute to high-impact research with real-world applications, and I'm really looking forward to welcoming new talent to our faculty.
The official advertisements will be released soon, but if you're interested or would like more details, please don't hesitate to get in touch with me directly! I'd love to chat about these projects and see if one of them is the right fit for you.
