The Turfgrass Science Lab at Oklahoma State University, under the leadership of Dr. Mingying Xiang, is inviting applications for one MS and one PhD student position to begin in Summer 2026. The research will focus on Bluemuda irrigation management, spring dead spot incidence under water-conservation strategies, and freeze tolerance of warm-season turfgrasses. The lab employs integrated field, greenhouse, and physiology approaches to address these topics.

Key research areas include the year-round performance of Bluemuda (a combination of bermudagrass and Kentucky bluegrass) systems, turfgrass water-use efficiency under deficit irrigation, the effects of water-management practices on spring dead spot disease incidence, and freeze tolerance and spring recovery of bermudagrass. These projects are highly relevant to students interested in turfgrass science, agronomy, water conservation, and plant physiology.

Applicants should have a B.S. (for M.S.) or M.S. (for Ph.D.) in turfgrass, agronomy, or a related field. A strong interest in turf management, plant physiology, and water conservation is essential. Excellent communication and teamwork skills are required, and prior research experience is preferred.
