What's required
Applicants must have at least an Upper Second Class Honours degree (or equivalent overseas qualification) in a relevant subject. Alternative qualifications or relevant professional experience may be considered. English language proficiency is required if English is not the first language, meeting King's College London Band D standards. Both home and overseas applicants are eligible, but overseas applicants must cover visa and Immigration Health Surcharge costs. Applicants should demonstrate potential for research, and provide two academic references (or one employer reference if applicable).

Join my team on an MRC Doctoral project that investigates the personalised responses to diets high in plant food diversity.

Overall aim:
To characterise the predictors of health benefits (response) to a high diversity plant food diet via a randomised parallel design feeding trial in healthy people. Potential predictors assessed are baseline dietary diversity data, stool, urine and blood metabolomic data, gut microbiome, and demographic data.
Skills:
The PhD student will gain expertise in metabolomics, microbiome analysis, bioinformatics, nutritional biomarkers for dietary intake, dietary analysis, randomised controlled trials and statistical analysis of complex datasets.
