Requirements
Applicants must hold a master’s degree or equivalent in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybernetics, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Nautical Science, Maritime Technology, or a similar field, with some sea-going experience and strong software development skills. The master’s degree must be recognized as equivalent to a 2-year Norwegian master’s degree with at least a B grade. Fluency in English is required; working knowledge of Norwegian or a Scandinavian language is beneficial. Preferred experience includes LLM-based application development, knowledge graph development for sensor data, deep learning, data engineering, semantic technologies, open-source AI and machine learning, statistical estimation, programming (Python, C++, LABVIEW), emission control in shipping, and ship navigation. Applicants must provide documentation of English proficiency and academic records. Final admission to the PhD programme requires a bachelor’s degree of 180 ECTS and a master’s degree of 120 ECTS or an integrated master’s of 300 ECTS, with a grade point average of C (strong 3.0) or better for the master’s degree.
