Nord University Business School invites applications for fully funded PhD positions in Business, focusing on Marketing, Organization, and Leadership, with research topics in Preparedness, Collaboration and Risk Communication, and Regenerative Tourism and Experiences. The positions are based in Bodø, Norway, and offer a unique opportunity to contribute to new knowledge relevant for businesses and society. The PhD program is structured as a three- or four-year research education, including intensive coursework, research leading to a doctoral dissertation, and relevant work experience. You will be affiliated with one of the Business School’s research groups, conducting high-quality research, publishing scientific articles, and disseminating results to both academic and broader audiences. The program encourages participation in international conferences and offers opportunities for research stays at foreign universities.

Research topics include: Preparedness, Collaboration and Risk Communication—exploring how different actors collaborate effectively in risk communication to foster trust, safety, prevention, and incident management; and Regenerative Tourism and Experiences—investigating how regenerative principles can advance the food, tourism, and experience sectors in Nordland through experience design, innovation, and governance. Norwegian language skills are required for some projects.

Eligibility: Applicants must have completed a five-year university education (300 credits) including a two-year master’s degree in business or equivalent, with a master’s thesis. At least 90 credits should be in a relevant subject area. Good grades (normally grade B or better) are required. Proficiency in English (written and oral) is mandatory, and knowledge of Norwegian or another Scandinavian language is advantageous and may be required. Strong analytical and methodological skills are expected. Applicants who already hold a PhD must demonstrate substantial new academic qualification.

Funding: The positions are fully funded, with an annual salary of NOK 550,800 and a 3% increase per year. Employment includes secure conditions, pension fund contributions, and access to Norwegian language courses.
