About this position

The Intelligent Multifunctional Materials and Systems (IMMS) Lab at Missouri University of Science and Technology, led by Assistant Professor Bo Mi Lee, is recruiting talented and motivated PhD students for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027. The lab focuses on cutting-edge research in intelligent multifunctional materials, soft robotics, additive manufacturing, wearable sensors, laser-enabled functional materials, smart-material-based actuators, and data-driven design. Candidates with interests or experience in multiscale and multiphysics modeling, 3D printing, functional and smart materials, sensors, actuators, soft systems, and experimental or prototyping skills are especially encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to applicants with a publication record.
