Prof. Dmitri Babikov’s Theoretical Chemical Physics group at Marquette University is recruiting fully funded PhD students for Fall 2026. The group focuses on cutting-edge research in theoretical and quantum chemistry, with particular emphasis on mixed quantum/classical dynamics for molecular collisions in astrophysical environments, quantum effects in atmospheric chemistry and ozone formation, and the development of quantum algorithms for molecular dynamics on platforms like IBM Quantum and IonQ.

The group is well-funded by the National Science Foundation and offers a competitive stipend that covers tuition and living expenses. Students will have the opportunity to work on the development and application of mixed quantum/classical theory (MQCT) for inelastic scattering, a computationally efficient approach that bridges classical and quantum methods for modeling molecular interactions.
