FuTURE Lab at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), led by Assistant Professor Giovanni Pittiglio, is seeking motivated PhD students to join in Fall 2026. The lab focuses on advancing medical robotics and devices, with research areas including minimally invasive surgical and diagnostic procedures, robot-assisted interventions, and the development of next-generation medical devices. The multidisciplinary team values innovative thinking and aims to improve patient outcomes by enhancing the precision and reach of critical medical interventions.

Applicants should have a strong background in robotics, engineering, or related fields. The WPI PhD application requires transcripts, two to three letters of recommendation, a personal statement, a résumé or CV, and, if applicable, GRE/GMAT and English proficiency test scores. International students are encouraged to apply early due to processing times. The priority deadline for funding consideration is October 15, 2025. All applicants who apply by this date are automatically considered for available funding, which may include tuition coverage and stipends. There is no separate funding application required.
