The Medical University of Graz is offering 15 PhD positions within the Austrian Science Fund (FWF)-funded Doctoral Program “TRP-Mediated Cation Signaling Pathways.” This interdisciplinary program investigates the role of TRP ion channels in regulating calcium and sodium transport, which are crucial for many physiological processes. Mutations in these channels can result in diseases such as pulmonary hypertension, heart disease, and disorders of brain development.

Students in this program will use innovative approaches, including light-controlled molecules, advanced biosensors, and computational models, to study how faulty cellular signaling leads to complex diseases. The research spans disease mechanisms in the lung, heart, and brain, providing a comprehensive understanding of how cellular dysfunction can impact health.
