DESY hosts one of the largest IceCube groups worldwide, contributing to the construction and operation of the instrument. Our science activities focus on neutrino astronomy and the studies of fundamental properties of neutrinos with IceCube. The group also plays a key role for the IceCube Upgrade, an extension of the IceCube detector with new optical sensors and calibration devices, with deployment scheduled in late 2025. The IceCube group is part of DESY's astroparticle division focused on multi-messenger astronomy with a network of groups that connect neutrino astronomy to optical/UV and gamma-ray astronomy, as well as theoretical modelling of high-energy phenomena.
