About this position

Ghent University is seeking a post-doctoral assistant for its Department of Educational Studies within the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences. The successful candidate will devote approximately 70% of their time to scientific research in educational research, including fundraising activities. Responsibilities also include assisting with teaching at both bachelor’s and master’s levels, acting as a responsible lecturer or co-lecturer for courses such as 'Education and Professionalization in Diverse Contexts,' and providing methodological support to fellow researchers. Additional duties involve supervising internships, doctoral candidates, and master’s theses, as well as serving as an examiner for master’s theses. The role also encompasses contributing to internal and external departmental services, such as exam invigilation, information days, and engagement with field actors. Applicants must hold a PhD in Educational Sciences or a closely related discipline relevant to educational research, possess experience in scientific and project-based research, and have a record of peer-reviewed publications. Skills in academic teaching, pedagogical-didactical methods, organization, and communication are essential, along with fluency in Dutch and English. Applicants must hold a PhD in Educational Sciences or a related alpha discipline with demonstrable relevance for educational research. Familiarity with methodological particularities of educational research is required. Experience in scientific and project-based research, relevant scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals, and involvement in project acquisition and coordination are assets. Strong interest and skills in academic teaching, pedagogical-didactical abilities, organizational, social, and communication skills are essential. Excellent oral and written skills in Dutch and English are required. For diplomas awarded outside the EU, a certificate of equivalence (NARIC) must be submitted.
