About this position
Ghent University, a leading research institution in Belgium, invites applications for a post-doctoral assistant position in the Department of Experimental Clinical and Health Psychology. This 16-month, non-renewable appointment focuses on academic research in neuropsychology, with at least 70% of the assignment dedicated to this area. The successful candidate will also contribute to neuropsychological teaching activities at both Bachelor’s and Master’s levels, and will provide guidance to Master’s, doctoral, and postgraduate students in their academic work and research projects.
Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in Clinical or Experimental Psychology, Cognitive Neuroscience, or a closely related field by the start of the appointment. Candidates with degrees from outside the European Union must provide a certificate of equivalence (NARIC). The ideal candidate will have a strong track record in clinical or fundamental research on brain-behavior relationships, with experience in neuroimaging—especially MRI—considered an asset. A demonstrated interest in student coaching and relevant peer-reviewed publications are expected. Proficiency in Dutch is advantageous but not required.
The position offers a competitive salary according to Ghent University’s AAP5 scale, along with a comprehensive benefits package including 36 days of paid leave, bicycle commuting reimbursement, ecocheques, and access to a wide range of training and educational opportunities. The appointment is set to begin on or after June 1, 2026.
To apply, candidates must submit an online application via the Ghent University e-recruitment system by March 31, 2026. Required documents include a CV with a list of publications, a cover letter, a transcript of the required degree, and, if applicable, a certificate of equivalence for non-EU diplomas. The university encourages applications from all qualified individuals as part of its commitment to equal opportunities and diversity.
