About this position

Mohammed VI Polytechnic University in Morocco is offering a post-doctoral researcher position within the Chemical & Biochemical Sciences Green Process Engineering (CBS) Department. The university is renowned for its commitment to research and innovation, aiming to drive economic and human development in Africa through world-class research and teaching programs. Located in Benguerir's Green City, UM6P aspires to make a global impact, particularly in green and environmental chemistry.

The CBS department focuses on international-level research and teaching challenges, especially in green and environmental chemistry applied to organic and inorganic chemistry, electrochemistry, analytical chemistry, chemical biology, and process engineering. Research at CBS addresses complex industrial questions, from chemical and biochemical reactions to process engineering scale-up and validation, with a strong emphasis on sustainability and environmental friendliness.

This postdoctoral project centers on developing green and sustainable electrochemical methodologies for synthesizing phosphorus derivatives. The research aims to meet the growing demand for phosphorus-based chemicals while minimizing environmental impact. Candidates with expertise in molten salt and/or phosphate electrochemistry are particularly encouraged to apply.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting innovative research in green electrochemical synthesis of phosphorus intermediates, focusing on creating various P-X bonds using electrochemical redox reactions, sequential in-situ transformations, catalysis, and related techniques.
  • Designing and executing experiments at laboratory and pilot scales to validate process feasibility and scalability for industrial applications.
  • Employing advanced analytical techniques (EM, SEM, AFM, XPS, UV-Vis, IR, cyclic voltammetry, NMR) for comprehensive characterization of synthesized compounds and intermediates.
  • Contributing to the design and synthesis of novel phosphorus derivatives and exploring mechanistic aspects of electrochemical reactions.
  • Ensuring all research activities adhere to green and sustainable principles, with a focus on reducing the carbon footprint.
  • Collaborating with the research team to write scientific reports, prepare publications, and present results in both French and English.

Eligibility: Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Chemistry, Electrochemistry, or a related field, with proven experience in green and sustainable electrochemical methodologies. Solid knowledge of electrochemistry, chemical analyses, and structural characterization techniques is required. Candidates should be motivated, adaptable, and proficient in scientific writing and communication in French and English.

Application process: Submit a detailed CV, cover letter, synthetic presentation of your background, research works, projects, publications, key achievements, research and teaching plans, entrepreneurial ideas, and services to UM6P community (max 3-4 pages), and two reference letters. Applications can be submitted via the provided link.

Funding: No explicit funding details are provided in the position description.

Deadline: The application deadline is unspecified; early submission is recommended.

Institution: Mohammed VI Polytechnic University, Benguerir, Morocco.
