About this position

Ghent University, a leading institution in Belgium, is offering a postdoctoral position as Research Coordinator in Clinical Nutrition within the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. The Department of Public Health and Primary Care (GE39) is seeking a highly qualified candidate to contribute to ongoing and new research initiatives in clinical and global nutrition. The role is designed for a postdoctoral researcher with a strong background in clinical nutrition, nutrition & dietetics, or related health sciences, and extensive experience in multidisciplinary collaboration, particularly within hospital settings.

The successful candidate will manage research projects focused on nutritional care for patients with chronic illnesses, working closely with clinical teams at UZ Gent and international partners. Responsibilities include project management, preparation and coordination of ethics submissions, tenders, and administrative research documentation, as well as development and implementation of research protocols for clinical and field-based studies. The position also involves scientific and administrative support for ongoing clinical studies, coordination with international collaborators, and assistance in writing competitive research grant applications and scientific manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals.

Applicants must hold a thesis-based PhD in health sciences, preferably in clinical nutrition or nutrition & dietetics. Essential qualifications include extensive experience in clinical nutrition, project coordination, research administration, and strong scientific writing skills. Candidates should be well organized, able to work independently, and capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously. Excellent written and spoken English is required. Additional assets include experience in international or multidisciplinary research teams and teaching or training students or healthcare professionals.

The position is offered as a contract of definite duration for one year, with the possibility of extension for a maximum of one additional year, subject to the availability of funds. The employment rate is 20%, and remuneration is determined by salary scale PD1 to PD4.
