About this position

This postdoctoral assistant professor position at the Faculty of Chemical Technology, Poznan University of Technology, offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the project "Every Breath You Take: Electrospun Membranes as Innovative Components for a New Generation Air Filters for Microplastic Analysis and Removal." The research focuses on the fabrication, optimisation, and validation of electrospun membranes for airborne microplastic removal and analysis, as well as biocatalyst immobilisation. The successful candidate will plan and conduct experiments, analyse and compile research results, prepare scientific publications and project reports, and participate in the promotion of project outcomes at scientific meetings and conferences. Additional responsibilities include laboratory operations, mentoring less experienced team members, and supervising students and doctoral candidates.

The position requires a PhD in chemical technology, chemical engineering, environmental engineering, biotechnology, or related fields, obtained no earlier than 12 years before January 1, 2026, and from an institution other than Poznan University of Technology. Candidates must have at least 4 years of laboratory experience, proven scientific achievements in materials chemistry and synthesis of novel materials, and expertise in membrane parameter analysis and materials characterization techniques. Strong English communication skills (B2 level or equivalent, certified) are essential, along with analytical thinking, technical and problem-solving abilities, computer proficiency, motivation, creativity, self-reliance, and teamwork.

The position is funded by a fixed-term employment contract for 36 months, with a gross monthly salary of approximately PLN 8,660. The start date is April 2026.
