About this position

About the Institution: Mohammed VI Polytechnic University, located in Benguerir, Morocco, is a leading African institution dedicated to research and innovation, with a strong focus on economic and human development. The university is committed to advancing research and skills training relevant to Africa's future, aiming for global recognition in its fields.

About the Research Centre: The Applied Chemistry and Engineering Research Centre of Excellence (ACER CoE) is a newly established multidisciplinary center addressing process challenges in chemistry and engineering. The center brings together faculty with expertise in chemistry, chemical engineering, and environmental engineering, focusing on catalysis, separation, energy generation, conversion and storage, organic optoelectronics, and advanced polymers and materials.

Position Overview: The ACER CoE invites applications for a postdoctoral fellow position under the supervision of Professor Youssef Belmabkhout. The successful candidate will develop and conduct research programs in the development of materials for hydrogen storage and porous materials for energy and environmental applications. Research areas include gas/vapor/liquid adsorption, membrane applications, reticular chemistry, porous adsorbents, X-ray crystallography, spectroscopy, and topological analysis of hybrid coordination polymers.

Key Responsibilities: The postdoctoral fellow will design and develop materials for gas storage, separation, purification, sensing, and waste transformation/energy efficiency. Additional duties include supervising graduate students, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, developing funded research projects, presenting research outcomes at conferences, and publishing in high-impact journals.

Eligibility and Requirements: Applicants must have a PhD in chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related field, with a strong publication record in international journals. Experience in the synthesis and characterization of porous materials (such as MOFs and zeolites), operation of adsorption/membrane testing instruments, and use of academic databases and software is required. Excellent English communication skills, ability to manage multiple projects, and enthusiasm for innovative research are essential.

Application Process: Applications should be submitted online as a single zipped folder containing a cover letter, detailed CV, and a brief research proposal. Short-listed candidates will be invited for an interview and must provide three references. For more information and to apply, visit the application link provided.

Funding: The position does not specify funding details; candidates are encouraged to inquire during the application process.

Application Deadline: The deadline is unspecified; early application is recommended.
