About this position
The Sustainable Materials Research Center (SUSMAT-RC) at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University is offering a postdoctoral fellowship focused on advanced sustainable materials for sensing applications. This opportunity is ideal for researchers passionate about developing innovative sensor systems for industrial processes, leveraging state-of-the-art manufacturing techniques and sustainable materials. The research center is renowned for its multidisciplinary approach, engaging in the development of biobased products and materials using biotechnological, physical, and chemical conversion strategies, and engineering processes. The center’s mission includes understanding and controlling material functionalities and structure-property relationships across molecular, nano, and macro scales, and applying this knowledge to address technological challenges in Morocco and Africa, supporting the transition toward a green and circular economy.
The successful candidate will join a dynamic team to design, develop, and optimize sensor platforms using miniaturized, low-cost, and efficient components. Responsibilities include synthesizing and characterizing polymers, molecularly imprinted polymers, and polymer-based nanocomposites, as well as processing sensors through design, fabrication, and rigorous field testing. Candidates will collaborate with engineers and data scientists to integrate sensor technologies into industrial systems, maintain detailed experimental records, and prepare technical reports and research papers for conferences and publications. The role also involves contributing to new research ideas, grant writing, and seeking external funding opportunities.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. in analytical chemistry, polymer science, materials science and engineering, or a related field. Essential skills include experience with analytical, spectroscopic, and microscopy techniques (GC/LC-MS, HPLC, UV-Vis, FTIR, Raman, NMR, XRD, SEM, TEM, AFM), and familiarity with electrochemical methods (CV, LSV, DPV, SWV, EIS). Broad experience in surface modification of substrates and processing sustainable materials and biopolymer composites is expected. Supervisory experience with undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students is desirable. Candidates must demonstrate strong motivation, initiative, analytical and teamwork skills, and excellent English communication abilities.
Mohammed VI Polytechnic University, located in Benguerir, Morocco, is a leading institution with international standards, state-of-the-art infrastructure, and a commitment to advancing applied research and innovation.
