About this position

The QuantumInternet.it research group at the University of Naples Federico II invites applications for a postdoctoral position in Quantum Software Engineering, funded by the ERC Consolidator Grant project QNattyNet and led by Professor Angela Sara Cacciapuoti. This opportunity is ideal for candidates seeking to advance their careers in quantum networking and software engineering within a dynamic, interdisciplinary team.

As a postdoctoral researcher, you will join an internationally renowned group working on the development and optimization of quantum software libraries and modules for fiber-based entangled networks. The role encompasses the full software development lifecycle, addressing complex technical challenges in quantum internet technologies. You will collaborate with researchers, postdocs, and PhD students, contributing to innovative, cross-disciplinary research in quantum networking and communication engineering.

The position requires a PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline. Essential qualifications include strong programming skills in C++ and Python, experience with network simulators (NS-3, NS-2, OMNeT++), or quantum optics experiments, and excellent design and problem-solving abilities. Preferred skills include expertise in Software Defined Networking, network architectures, management, and control. Candidates must be legally eligible to work in Italy (EU) starting Autumn 2025 and possess good English language proficiency.

The post is fully funded through the ERC Consolidator Grant (Horizon Europe), offering a temporary full-time contract with salary and benefits according to EU and university regulations. The research group provides access to a state-of-the-art testbed for fiber-based entangled networks and fosters a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment.

To apply, submit a presentation letter with a declaration of interest, a curriculum vitae including contact details, and the contact email of three potential referees to [email protected]. For informal inquiries, contact [email protected]. The application deadline is 31 March 2026.
