Postdoctoral Research Associate in Molecular Imaging and Therapy
A postdoctoral research position is available at Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology (MIR), Precision Radiotheranostics Translation Center (PRTC), WashU Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri, in the laboratory of Dr. Kooresh Shoghi. The postdoctoral candidate will be an integral part of an interdisciplinary translational imaging program involving molecular oncologists, cancer biologists, computational biologists, and imaging scientists focused on detecting breast cancer and predicting response to therapy. The position is part of a NCI-funded research program to advance precision oncology.

Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Trains under the supervision of a faculty mentor including (but not limited to):
- Radiochemistry of small molecule molecular imaging probes to interrogate tumor biology and predict response to therapy.
- Optimize and characterize imaging agents for preclinical and translational cancer studies.
- Collaborate with biologists, imaging scientists, and oncologists to evaluate probes in vitro and in vivo.
- Contribute to publications, grant proposals, and presentations.
- Assist with grant preparation and reporting.
- Prepare and submit papers on research.
- Assist in the design of research experiments.
- Evaluate research findings and assist in the reporting of the results.
Working Conditions:
This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. The individual must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.
Salary Range:
Base pay is commensurate with experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD in radiochemistry, organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, nuclear chemistry, or a related field.
- Strong background in synthetic chemistry and/or radiochemistry (PET/SPECT tracers preferred).
- Experience with automated synthesis modules, purification, and quality control of radiotracers is highly desirable.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to work in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment.
