About this position

The University of Luxembourg, a leading international research university, is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher in Architecture to join its Faculty of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences (FHSE). The successful candidate will be based in the Department of Geography and Spatial Planning, working within the Master in Architecture program under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Florian Hertweck. This position offers a unique opportunity to engage in collaborative and individual research focused on the socio-ecological transition in architecture and urbanism, with a particular emphasis on feasibility studies and design projects in the context of Luxembourg.

Responsibilities include teaching territorial, urban, and architectural design, as well as theory of urbanism and architecture. The researcher will contribute to academic publications, assist in organizing and representing the master program, tutor and evaluate master and PhD students, and undertake administrative tasks. The role is embedded in a vibrant interdisciplinary environment, with staff from over 90 countries and strong connections to European institutions, innovative companies, and local government partners.

Applicants must possess both a Master and PhD degree in architecture or urbanism, or in history or theory of architecture or urbanism. Experience in teaching design and theory, teamwork, student tutoring, and organizing academic events is essential. Additional advantages include experience with international and interdisciplinary research projects, fundraising, and design expertise in architecture and urban design. Fluency in English is required, with proficiency in German or French considered an asset.

The position is a fixed-term contract for 36 months, full-time (40 hours per week), based at the Belval Campus. The annual gross salary is EUR 85,176.
