Örebro University invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher in Computer Science with a focus on Neuro-inspired Computing. The position is based at the School of Science and Technology, specifically within the Department of Computer Science. The research will center on neuro-inspired computing and neuromorphic engineering, with particular emphasis on hyperdimensional computing, vector symbolic architectures, reservoir computing, and associative memories. A key direction is the exploration of high-dimensional vector representations for intelligent systems, including hardware realization using neuromorphic chips and in-memory computing devices.

The project aims to expand the algorithmic capabilities of intelligent systems, reduce computational costs, and bridge the gap between hardware and algorithm design. The successful candidate will consolidate and develop their research skills, contribute to departmental duties (including teaching up to 20% of their time), and engage in interdisciplinary work at the intersection of electrical engineering, neuroscience, and computer science.

Applicants must hold a doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree in a relevant field at the time of appointment. Preference is given to candidates who received their doctoral degree within the last three years. Candidates may not have held a postdoctoral researcher position for more than one year in the same subject and institution. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong background and publication track record in neuro-inspired computing and neuromorphic engineering, with hands-on experience in hardware realization. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills, as well as a passion for interdisciplinary research, are essential.

The position is full-time for two (or three) years, with the possibility of extension for parental leave or illness. Salary is determined based on qualifications and experience.
