PhD Opportunities in Landscape Evolution Modelling, Geomorphology, and Biodiversity Monitoring at University of Glasgow

The University of Glasgow is offering multiple fully funded PhD opportunities in the fields of landscape evolution modelling, geomorphology, and biodiversity monitoring. These projects are part of the IAPETUS and ExaGEO Doctoral Training Partnerships and focus on topics such as the characterisation and analysis of anthropogenically influenced fluvial catchments in the Philippines, scalable deep learning for biodiversity monitoring, and the development of landscape evolution models in tropical regions. The research aims to improve natural hazard prediction and landscape management using advanced methodologies including remote sensing, sedimentary analysis, and statistical emulation. Students will receive training in landscape evolution modelling, sedimentary sample analysis, and GIS-based remote sensing. The supervisory team includes Amanda Owen and Paul R Eizenhöfer from the University of Glasgow, and Fiona Clubb from Durham University, providing multidisciplinary guidance. The projects are suitable for candidates with backgrounds in Earth Science, Geology, Geography, Environmental Science, or related disciplines, and offer a dynamic, internationally diverse research environment.
