Predoctoral Fellow in Organizational and Development Economics at Bocconi University
Bocconi University in Milan, Italy, is offering a full-time predoctoral fellow position in Organizational and Development Economics, supervised by Prof. Erika Deserranno and the Laboratory for Effective Anti-poverty Policies (LEAP). The fellowship is designed for candidates interested in supporting research projects focused on development, organizational, and personnel economics, with a particular emphasis on worker productivity in both private and public sectors. Research topics include the role of middle managers in large U.S. retail chains and the effects of job rotation and performance incentives among microfinance loan officers in Uganda. The research team collaborates internationally, with projects spanning the U.S., Italy, Sierra Leone, Uganda, and India.
Key responsibilities include data cleaning and econometric analysis, managing and analyzing large datasets, writing simple theory models, preparing literature reviews, assisting with project design and implementation, brainstorming, field experiment design and supervision, model building, data processing and visualization, and academic writing. The position is ideal for candidates considering a future PhD in economics or related fields.
Applicants must hold a Master's degree in Economics, Statistics, or a related field, and demonstrate strong quantitative skills, advanced knowledge of Stata and R, excellent English communication, and a keen interest in academic research. Proficiency in LaTeX is desirable. The role requires meticulousness, organizational skills, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently while taking direction.
