PhD Position in Design and Manufacture of Medical Simulators (Engineering Sciences)

PhD Opportunity in Engineering Sciences: Design and Manufacture of Medical Simulators Join the research group of Dr. Erika García-López, Assistant Research Professor at Tecnológico de Monterrey, for a fully funded PhD position focused on the design and manufacture of medical simulators. This project aims to bridge engineering innovation and clinical needs by developing highly accurate, patient-specific anatomical models for medical training and surgical planning. The research lines include the design and manufacture of anatomical models, as well as instrumentation and automation for medical simulators. Research Impact: The automation and design of medical simulators can train physicians in complex scenarios and provide valuable feedback before surgery. The project leverages the RAPID 3D Lab and state-of-the-art facilities at Campus Monterrey, with collaborations including MADiT Laboratorio Nacional and UC Chile. Eligibility: Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree in biomedical, mechanical, or mechatronics engineering, with a minimum GPA of 90. A score of 585+ on the adaptive PAEP or an equivalent GRE score is required. Candidates should have hands-on experience or a strong interest in instrumentation and automation, and a passion for research and problem-solving. Funding: The position is part of SECIHTI’s National Graduate System (SNP) and offers full tuition coverage. Students may also apply for a maintenance grant. The program duration is four years and a quarter, starting September 2026, with in-person attendance at Campus Monterrey.
