Postdoctoral Researcher in High-Efficiency Perovskite-Silicon Tandem Solar Cells at LMU Munich

The Aydin Group at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU Munich) is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to join their internationally recognized team in the Department of Chemistry. The research focuses on high-efficiency perovskite-silicon tandem solar cells, with applications in both terrestrial and space environments. The successful candidate will lead the development and optimization of next-generation photovoltaic devices, including advanced device fabrication, characterization, loss analysis, and stability testing. Applicants should have a PhD in chemistry (physical chemistry preferred), physics, engineering, materials science, or a closely related discipline. Essential qualifications include hands-on experience in fabricating high-efficiency perovskite–silicon tandem solar cells, strong experimental skills in thin-film deposition and materials processing, and proficiency with advanced characterization methods. Experience with machine learning or programming is advantageous but not required. The role requires a collaborative mindset, scientific rigor, motivation, and responsibility. Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary; German language skills are beneficial but not mandatory. The position offers a 1-year contract with the possibility of a 1-year extension, compensated at 100% TV-L E13. The successful candidate will benefit from access to state-of-the-art facilities within LMU Chemistry and the e-conversion research infrastructure, as well as opportunities to collaborate with researchers at TUM Physics, Chemistry, and the Walter Schottky Institute. The group provides a dynamic, diverse, and inclusive research environment, with opportunities for professional development and networking in the field of tandem photovoltaics. Responsibilities include leading research on ultra-high-efficiency tandem solar cells, performing advanced device characterization and simulations, conducting stability testing for terrestrial and extraterrestrial applications, managing research tasks, disseminating findings through publications and conferences, and contributing to teaching activities within the Physical Chemistry Department. The group values diversity and is committed to gender equality; applications from severely disabled individuals are encouraged. To apply, candidates should submit a single PDF file containing a research statement (max. two pages), CV, B.Sc. and M.Sc. transcripts, and contact information for two referees to [email protected] with the subject line 'Application: Postdoc Tandem Solar Cells – [Your Name]'. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for interviews. For further details, visit the Aydin Group's academic page or the official job posting. The research group is located in a vibrant, international city with extensive cultural and social opportunities, and the laboratory facilities are centrally located and easily accessible.
