PhD, MS, and Postdoc Positions in Industrial Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning at University of Maryland

The Industrial Artificial Intelligence (IAI) Center at the University of Maryland, College Park, is recruiting 20 highly motivated MS, PhD students, and Postdoctoral Researchers for Spring and Fall 2026. The IAI Center, as part of its AI Factory initiative, is building a world-class research team focused on applying artificial intelligence to solve real industrial challenges. The research group is particularly interested in candidates with expertise in machine learning, large language models, and interdisciplinary engineering applications, especially those eager to work with real-world industrial data from sectors such as semiconductors, aerospace, electronics, manufacturing, and transportation. Research at the IAI Center covers a range of advanced machine learning topics, including transfer learning, domain adaptation, federated learning, multi-modal learning, continual learning (Stream-of-X), agentic AI, image-based foundation models, and industrial large knowledge models. The center collaborates closely with leading industries in semiconductor, aerospace, automotive, transportation, and energy systems to ensure that research outcomes have meaningful theoretical and practical impacts. The positions are open to MS, PhD, and postdoctoral candidates who are passionate about industrial AI and its applications. Applicants should have a strong background in machine learning, large language models, or interdisciplinary engineering, and experience with industrial data is highly valued. The announcement does not specify detailed entry requirements, funding details, or stipend information. To apply, interested candidates should visit the IAI Center website (www.iaicenter.com) for more information and email Professor Jay Lee, CC'ing [email protected], with the subject line 'Join IAI Center:' followed by the position of interest. The IAI Center is located in the Jeong H. Kim Engineering Building at the University of Maryland, College Park.
