Postdoc or AI Research Engineer in AI, NLP, and VR for Agricultural Equipment Training

The CIAD laboratory at Université de Technologie de Belfort-Montbéliard (UTBM) is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher or AI Research Engineer to join the PLAPIMA project, an innovative initiative focused on transforming training in the agricultural equipment sector. The project aims to develop immersive virtual reality (VR) modules and sustainable digital ecosystems for professional training, leveraging advanced artificial intelligence (AI) and natural language processing (NLP) technologies. The successful candidate will work within a multidisciplinary team at the CIAD laboratory, which specializes in hybrid, distributed, and explainable AI systems. The role involves the design and implementation of multimedia conversational assistants and automated evaluation tools for immersive simulators, in close collaboration with project partners. Key responsibilities include developing AI conversational assistants for agricultural equipment documentation and tools for assessing communication skills in immersive scenarios. Applicants should hold a PhD or Master's degree in Computer Science, AI, or a related field, with strong proficiency in large language models (LLMs), deep learning for NLP, and multimedia processing. Experience in VR development, immersive simulators, and software development using Python and PyTorch is essential. Additional skills in computer vision and API development for VR integration are advantageous. Fluency in both English and French is required. The position is based at the CIAD Laboratory on the UTBM Montbéliard campus in France. It is offered as a 1-year fixed-term contract (CDD), renewable up to three times, with a monthly gross salary of €2,960 (approximately €2,380 net before income tax), and the possibility of a higher salary depending on experience.
