President’s PhD Scholarships in Engineering, Science, Medicine, and Business at Imperial College London

The President’s PhD Scholarships at Imperial College London offer an exceptional opportunity for outstanding students from around the world to pursue doctoral research in a wide range of fields, including engineering, science, medicine, and business. Each year, 50 fully funded scholarships are awarded, covering tuition fees, a generous annual stipend of £26,500 (2026-27 rate) for living expenses, and a consumables fund of £2,000 per annum for the first three years. Scholars also benefit from a tailored program of events and opportunities delivered by the Early Career Researcher Institute (ECRI), as well as comprehensive support for disabled and international students. Eligible PhD programs span the Faculty of Engineering (Aeronautics, Bioengineering, Chemical, Civil and Environmental, Computing, Design, Earth Science, Electrical and Electronic, Materials, Mechanical), Faculty of Medicine (Brain Sciences, Immunology, Infectious Disease, Metabolism, Surgery, Clinical Sciences, National Heart and Lung Institute, Public Health), Faculty of Natural Sciences (Chemistry, Life Sciences, Mathematics, Physics, Environmental Policy), and Imperial College Business School (Finance, Management, Economics, Marketing, Analytics). Applicants must demonstrate exceptional academic achievement, typically with a First Class Honours degree at Master’s level (or equivalent), and provide evidence of research potential. Required documents include full academic transcripts, a personal statement outlining research interests and experience, an English language certificate, and contact details for two referees (at least one academic). Only new PhD applicants are eligible; current Imperial PhD students are excluded. To apply, candidates should first identify and secure agreement from a supervisor at Imperial College London, then submit an online application with all supporting documents. The application window is open year-round, with specific notification dates for those applying before November, January, and March deadlines. This scholarship is highly competitive and welcomes applicants from all backgrounds, supporting both full- and part-time study. For more information, visit the official scholarship page and review the full eligibility and application details. This is an outstanding opportunity for aspiring researchers to join one of the world’s leading institutions and advance their academic careers in a vibrant, diverse environment.
