Postdoctoral Position in Reservoir Modeling and Geoenergy at Delft University of Technology

The Department of Geoscience and Engineering at Delft University of Technology is recruiting a two-year postdoctoral researcher for the CrossScale project, under the DeepNL programme funded by the Dutch Research Council (NWO). The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team led by Professor Sebastian Geiger and colleagues Anne Pluymakers, Auke Barnhoorn, Hemmo Abels, Alexandros Daniilidis, Gerdien de Vries, and Johannes Miocic. The research focuses on developing next-generation reservoir models to understand how small-scale geological heterogeneity impacts uncertainty estimates, with the goal of improving forecasts for geoenergy projects such as geothermal energy and CO2 storage. The project is situated at the intersection of earth science, geology, and environmental science, and will leverage advanced computational and analytical methods. The postdoc will contribute to the DeepNL programme, which aims to deepen our understanding of the subsurface and its role in sustainable energy solutions. The position is fully funded for two years, with salary and benefits provided according to TU Delft standards. Applicants should hold a PhD in geoscience, geology, earth science, or a related discipline, and have experience in reservoir modeling, uncertainty quantification, and geoenergy applications. Strong computational skills and proficiency in English are required. The research environment at TU Delft offers access to state-of-the-art facilities and a vibrant academic community.
